I am in the market for a double bass pedal and am looking at the DW 5000 series. The 9000 is a little out or my price range. What is the difference between the Turbo and Accelerator? The Turbo is centered...exactly what is centered and how does this effect the playing? Accelerator is offset...exactly what is offset and how does this differ from the Turbo? I have looked at the two over and over on the dw website, but seem to find no difference in where the chain is...any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Basically it's what feels good to you. The offset verses half I think is about concentric energy.1 sprocket is a half moon, the other is a full circle, the big difference is in how fast the chain comes off the sprocket and the beater hits the head.
I'm guessing though and for me, again it's really what feels good to your foot and how you play. Some guys like the feel of a chain, some like the direct type drive of a Speed King or the new Flying Dragon Yamaha, some like the extra weight of a double chain.
My opinion is go to a GC or similar and try pedals for a few hours.

Randy's right. It's what feels good to you but you should know that the top end pedals have borrowed from each other and the advantages of one over the other are becoming less as time goes by.
The cams are important. They will bring the beater to the head but some will accelerate at the very end of the stroke.
I have an Axis-A (Direct-Drive), Pearl Eliminators, Tama Iron-Cobras and a DW5000. Out of all of them, the most versatile is the Pearl Eliminator, with 4 different cams to choose from and a price tag that you will find digestible.
I think they have the advantage in price and product but try them yourself. Don't take my word for it.

The turbo cam is a pure linear pull, 1:1 ratio of chain vs beater movment.
The accelerator is just that, I dunno the formula but it goes from 1:1 and at the end is prob around 1:3 or so on movment. IE; You get more beater velocity from the acclerator for pull on the chain.
It's a personal thing, kinda like stray vs chain.
